Instant City

Ed Mitchell and Aniket Shahane

Fall 2015

Yale School of Architecture

For this charrette, we were tasked with envisioning the city as a new conception. With recent events and refugees in mind, as well as analyses of each of our home towns, we chose key concepts that dealt with preparedness in various states of emergency, adaptability, aggregation, and portability. Often times when people are forced to leave their homes, they cannot take physical objects with them. The Instant City envisages a pop-up milieu that accommodates that missing sense of place and memory.
